With Operation Round-Up, the JCREMC Community Fund has given over $500,000 in grant funding to local nonprofit organizations and charitable causes since the program’s start in 2019.

So many incredible local organizations have put these funds to great use – from renovating local schools to giving new lifesaving equipment to fire departments. In honor of ORU’s success, we would like to highlight some of the grant projects that have made major impacts on the community.

The Johnson County Historical Society, which has been educating the county on its history since 1931, has received two grants from Operation Round-Up.

One grant was to establish permanent signage in front of the Hendricks Cabin, which is a historically accurate cabin originally built in the 1830s. Visitors can take a step back in time just by walking through its front door.

Another grant helped them bring new tables and chairs to their meeting room, where community members may rent the space for meetings at no cost.

David Pfeiffer, the museum director of JCHS, shared what the ORU grants mean to his organization:

“The grants the Johnson County Historical Society have received from JCREMC’s Operation Round-Up program have greatly benefitted our mission to preserve history by helping us tell the story of the Hendricks Cabin and provide an updated Meeting Room for our many community partners that use our space.”

So many people visit the museum every year to learn more about their local history, and JCREMC is honored to help an organization so dedicated to preserving the history of our thriving community.
