Wired to Create Student Art Contest

Indiana’s Electric Cooperatives and their statewide magazine, Indiana Connection, invite students to enter the Wired to Create Student Art Contest.

Students across the state are encouraged to submit their artwork for a chance at cash prizes and recognition in Indiana Connection. 

Who is eligible?

All Indiana public, private, or home-schooled students in kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to enter.

What are the prizes?

• 12 artworks will be selected across four grade divisions: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12. Awards include $200 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place.
• A select number of entries may be recognized as Honorable Mentions and would receive a recognition ribbon. 
• A Best of Show award will be selected from the four 1st place winners and receive an additional $100.

Camp Kilowatt

Do you know a sixth-grade student who wants to learn more about electricity and attend a fun, educational summer camp?

Make sure they know about this program!

Indiana’s electric cooperatives are accepting applications from sixth-grade students (entering seventh grade in the fall of 2026) for Camp Kilowatt. Each year, students who attend camp have the opportunity to gain knowledge about the electric cooperative industry and electricity, participate in fun summer activities, and make new friends.

Camp Kilowatt is a three-night, four-day overnight camp hosted at Happy Hollow Children’s Camp in Nashville, Indiana, and will take place July 7-10, 2027. Students will meet at Happy Hollow Children’s Camp the afternoon of July 7 and immediately jump into fun activities and start making new friends. Each year, the camp committee works to develop a well-rounded schedule to strike a balance between education and fun. Activities include a live-line demonstration, bucket truck rides, circuit boards, canoeing, archery, horseback riding, and more.

Students will be selected based on applications submitted to their electric cooperative. All applicants must be sponsored by an electric cooperative, have completed sixth grade and are enrolled in seventh grade, and have adequate transportation to and from Happy Hollow Children’s Camp in Nashville, Indiana. Home-schooled students are eligible to apply.

Indiana Youth Tour

Students entering their senior year in 2027 are eligible to participate in an unforgettable educational adventure to Washington, D.C.

Each June, Indiana’s electric cooperatives sponsor a group of high school students entering their senior year to embark on a life-changing education adventure to Washington D.C. Highlights of this seven-day trip, spanning from June 16-23, include visits to historic monuments and museums, meetings with Indiana’s congressional delegation on Capitol Hill, opportunities to make lifelong friends, and much more.
