JCREMC Invites Consumers/ Members to Virtual Annual Meeting
Feb 22, 2021
FRANKLIN, Ind. – JCREMC’s decision to host its 2021 Annual Meeting on April 17 as a virtual event comes with a silver lining: it will be easier for many consumers/members to attend. Although the electric cooperative’s Board of Directors and Leadership Team decided to go virtual due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, members who found it difficult to attend past meetings in person may find it more convenient to attend online or over the phone.
“We want to meet our members where they are, and this year we’re making that a reality as our annual meeting will be live-streamed into their homes,” says CEO John Sturm. “Our virtual Annual Meeting is the best way to conduct important cooperative business while keeping everyone safe.”
JCREMC, which supplies service to more than 26,000 meters in Johnson County and portions of Morgan, Shelby, and Brown counties, is a cooperative electric utility. This means its consumers are also members and owners with rights and responsibilities. Prior to the virtual Annual Meeting, JCREMC’s 2021 Board of Directors’ election and other business will be conducted via ballots mailed to all members on February 25. Members who return their ballots postmarked by the April 1 deadline will be entered in the drawing to win one of 100 cash prizes and bill credits ranging from $50 to $2,000.
The virtual Annual Meeting at 10:30 a.m. on April 17 will feature the election results, updates on JCREMC business affairs, prize drawings, and announcement of scholarship winners. Attending is easy. Members who register in advance at www.JCREMC.com/2021AnnualMeeting will receive a phone call right as the meeting starts; they can participate through that phone call and/or on the Annual Meeting Web page, where the meeting will be live-streamed. They can also view the livestream on JCREMC’s Facebook page or participate by calling (833) 998-1729 toll-free.
“Though we will miss the camaraderie we enjoyed at past annual meetings, JCREMC is working to provide a high-quality, online community experience.,” Sturm says. “We think our consumers, who are also members, will find many aspects of this new format enjoyable and informative.”
