JCREMC Community Fund awards Spring 2020 grants

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The JCREMC Community Fund has awarded $19,987 in Operation Round-Up® Community Grants to six local non-profit organizations.
Operation Round-Up® is a voluntary program of cooperative utilities nationwide that allows consumers to work together to impact their communities for the better. Grant applications are available each April and October.
Spring 2020 grant recipients and their projects:
- Franklin Heritage, Inc. – Thank You Essential Workers Program

- Tracks4Vets – Boots on the Ground Program
- Johnson and Shelby County VASIA – Key Box Program (Knox Box)
- Beats for Bristol, Inc. – App Development Program
- Community Involvement in Learning – DBA: Franklin Education Connection – Water Bottle Fill Station
- Edinburgh Fire and Rescue – Stabilization Struts for Unstable Vehicle Rescues
JCREMC Community Fund Operation Round-Up® grants are funded by JCREMC consumers who choose to participate. Those consumers allow their monthly electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar. The rounded-up amount goes into the JCREMC Community Fund, which is overseen by a volunteer advisory board and administered by the Johnson County Community Foundation. Each spring and fall, the fund awards grants to non-profit charitable organizations throughout the communities JCREMC serves to help fund projects in the areas of education, public health and safety, and community improvement.
Applications for the next grant cycle will be accepted October 1-31, 2020. Learn more at jcremc.com/operation-round-up.
In addition to the grants, the JCREMC Community Fund allocated $30,000 in emergency funds to local COVID-19 disaster relief. Of that total, $5,000 went directly to Johnson County Senior Services. The remaining $25,000 was appropriated to the Johnson County Community Foundation to help fund emergency response grants for COVID-19 needs and has been distributed to area food banks, student relief programs, and domestic violence agencies.
