JCREMC Solar Renewable Energy Programs
Residential & Small Commercial Members
Availability
Renewable solar energy, through the Go Green program, is available to all residential & small commercial members. It is for the purchase of energy from solar renewable resources and to support qualified environmental investments.
Residential & Small Commercial Rate
In addition to the total charges determined under the applicable rate schedule, Solar Renewable Energy is available to residential and small commercial members at a rate of $0.55 for each 100 kWh block of electricity per month. Renewable energy must be purchased in blocks of 100 kWh and will be billed monthly on your JCREMC electric bill. Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) will be retired by JCREMC for amounts purchased by members. Effort will be made to secure Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from Indiana resources, but credits may be sourced from out-of-state locations.
Terms of Agreement
Members will enter into a 12-month agreement with Johnson County REMC for the number of renewable energy blocks purchased per month. This agreement is a requirement of participation in the program. Prices and purchase commitments are subject to change on an annual basis, and consumers will be notified of any changes. This agreement will auto renew on a month-to-month basis after the initial 12-month agreement unless the member cancels the program.

Members can purchase any quantity of solar Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) on an annual basis for $5.50 per REC; however, the minimum number of RECs annually is 1,000 ($5,500 total cost) per vintage year. One REC is equal to 1,000 kWh of energy. RECs will be transferred to the members via JCREMC tracking system (M-RETs). Buyers’ tracking system must be compatible with JCREMC’s tracking system to participate in this REC transfer program. Buyers will be provided with documentation confirming the RECs location, vintage year and quantity. A one-time invoice will be sent to the buyer, and payment must be received before any transfer will occur. Effort will be made to provide Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from Indiana resources, but credits may be sourced from out-of-state locations unless specifically agreed upon otherwise.
Option 2 Terms of Agreement
A separate agreement will be executed that outlines the terms. Multi-year agreements are available upon request and at negotiated prices. Posted prices and purchase commitments are subject to change on an annual basis. Members who opt to purchase during one calendar year period are not obligated in any future calendar years.
