Appendix B
JCREMC Non-Recurring Charges and other Terms of Service
After Hours Service Calls – if a service crew must be dispatched for a non-emergency situation after normal business hours, a minimum fee of $275.00 shall apply for one lineman and a minimum of $500.00 shall apply for two linemen. The appropriateness of whether one or two linemen are used shall be governed by the nature of the work and any safety policies that must be followed.
Disconnect Fee – When a consumer is remotely disconnected and reconnected within a 30 day window due to non-payment or from a consumer’s special request, a fee of $20.00 shall apply. If reconnection occurs outside of the 30 day window, REMC reserves the right to charge an additional $20.00 for reconnection of service.
Disconnect Information –
- Payments must be received in the JCREMC office on or before the specified dates by 8:00 A.M. to avoid a late payment fee or disconnection for nonpayment
- No checks will be accepted on or after the specified disconnection day.
- Failure to receive a bill does not exempt consumers from monthly payments, accruing late charges, or disconnection.
Late Payment Charge – Bills shall be rendered and due monthly. If bills are not paid on or before the seventeenth day following the billing date, the bill shall have late charges added at a rate of 3%.
Manual Meter Reading Fee – Consumers requesting a manual meter read, shall be subject to a $54.19 monthly recurring fee.
Meter Tampering Fee – a charge of $150.00 will be assessed if it has been discovered that there was illegal tampering with the electric meter. This is in addition to all other applicable charges.
Non-Metered Rates – these rates are designed for consumer-owned equipment or devices that receive electric service but are not individually metered. These loads are typically small, consistent, and predictable and can be administered through a flat monthly charge. Non-metered rates are commonly used for consumer-owned lighting, signage, communication devices and other permanently installed, low demand electrical loads.
| Usage Category (wattage rating) | Monthly Charge |
| 1W – 150W | $4.00 |
| >150W – 300W | $8.00 |
| >300W – 450W | $12.00 |
| >450W | Contact office |
Rate Change Requests – Upon consumer request to switch to an alternative rate schedule, member must have Corporation’s approval and remain on new rate for a minimum of 12 months. The only exception will be if service is terminated at the location prior to the end of the 12 month period.
Returned Payment Fee – When a payment is received for a member’s account and is returned unpaid for any reason (not the fault of the REMC), the member shall be assessed a handling fee of $35.00.
Transformer Over-Capacity Request – If a customer desires a larger transformer than what JCREMC deems necessary, then JCREMC reserves the right to perform an engineering analysis at the customer’s expense. The minimum monthly billed demand may be equal to 50% of the transformer capacity if the larger transformer is requested.
Special Contracts and 5-year Large Single-Load Integration Fee – Per JCREMC bylaws, energy sales to members having unusual usage and load characteristics shall be handled on a case-by-case basis and in the best interest of JCREMC. JCREMC’s power supply planning and hedging process does not anticipate load growth for new or incremental customer sales requesting a collective 5 MVA or more of distribution transformation service at a single site, nor does it address patronage capital inconsistencies or members that prefer to self-provide a significant portion of their needs. Accordingly, JCREMC, at its sole discretion, shall sell electricity to these prospective “Large Single-Load Members” under Special Contract Provisions (e.g. market pass-through, stand-by power agreement, supplemental power agreement, and capital credit provisions) which may include adding a Five-Year Large Power Integration Fee to the relevant rate schedule. Special contract provisions will be based on JCREMC bylaws, board policies and sound incremental cost principles.
Transformer Service Fee – if the situation warrants a consumer to be disconnected or reconnected at the transformer (versus at the meter) as a result of non-payment or from a consumer’s special request, a minimum $150.00 fee may apply.
Trip Fee – a charge of $80.00 may be assessed each time a service employee must be sent to the consumer’s service location during normal business hours as a result of non-payment or from a consumer’s special request. This fee will be applicable whether or not the service is disconnected or reconnected.
