2021 Graduating High School Seniors Are Eligible for $2000 Award
FRANKLIN, Ind. – JCREMC is accepting applications for its 2021 Academic Scholarship Program.
The program, now in its 27th year, encourages high school seniors to further their education while also promoting the awareness and importance of the cooperative business model. JCREMC will present $2,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors who will attend an Indiana college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2021.
This is the first year that students attending trade schools are eligible for the scholarship.
“We know that many well-paying, in-demand jobs require vocational or technical training but not necessarily a traditional college degree,” said John W. Sturm, JCREMC’s Chief Executive Officer “JCREMC is proud to support students as they select the educational options that are most appropriate for their individual needs and interests.”
Eligible students are children or legal wards of a JCREMC member who have the required basic credits and plan to attend an Indiana college, university, or trade school in 2021, as well as a current grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. To apply, students must submit the application form and application statement, supply a copy of their high school transcript, and submit an essay on one of the Seven Cooperative Principles. The application deadline is February 1, 2021. For more information, visit jcremc.com/academic-scholarships.
The JCREMC Board of Directors will make the final selection of scholarship winners and will recognize them as part of the cooperative’s virtual annual meeting on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Questions regarding the scholarship should be directed to the scholarship program administrator at 317-736-6174.
Located in Franklin, Ind., JCREMC is a cooperative electric utility that supplies electric service to more than 26,000 meters in Johnson County and portions of Morgan, Shelby, and Brown counties.
