JCREMC and JCFiber employees helped five local organizations for Community Day 2025.

Dozens of employees from JCREMC, a local electric cooperative based in Franklin, Indiana, gave back to the local community on October 3, 2025, by participating in service projects at Girls Inc. of Franklin, Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County, Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County, Independence Park, and Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community.

This is a part of the Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ Community Day initiative, which encourages cooperatives from across Indiana to donate their time to local organizations in need. JCREMC has participated in Community Day for years, and in the past, the cooperative has donated its time to local parks, animal shelters, and other non-profit organizations.

Manager of Engineering Services Caleb Drake, who spent his time at Independence Park, loves the program for two reasons.

“It’s my favorite way to show appreciation for our members. In a matter of hours, we make a tangible impact on the community and develop deeper relationships with coworkers.”

Customer Service Representative Maddie Smith, who helped at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, shared similar sentiments.

“I enjoy participating in Community Day because it gives us the opportunity to volunteer at organizations that truly need and appreciate any hands-on help they are given. This year I assisted in organizing hardware shelves at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The employees were so appreciative that we helped with this task that they had not been able to address due to the lack of time and workers. I can’t wait to see who we help next year!”

Projects just like these demonstrate one of the seven cooperative principles, concern for community, which were originally established by the International Cooperative Alliance.

JCREMC prioritizes giving back to the community that has supported the cooperative since its beginning in 1935.
