Outages

Johnson County REMC is devoted to keeping members informed about power outages. We will also provide information for large planned outages. A planned outage occurs when we perform line maintenance or upgrades to our system. Outages that affect only a small number of customers may not be listed. Johnson County REMC reminds members to stay away from all downed lines and call the office immediately. If you should have any questions regarding an outage, please contact our office.

Planned/Recent Outages

We had an outage at our Samaria substation overnight (5/16) at approximately 11:00 pm. This would have lost power to approximately 1,750 members in southwest Johnson County. The outage was caused by a pole fire on the transmission line feeding the substation. Power was restored to all customers by 12:45 AM

Report a Power Outage

Power outages are usually infrequent and brief, but there are times your service may be interrupted. When an outage occurs, restoration of service is our priority. Here are the steps to follow when you experience a power outage:

  • Check fuses or circuit breakers.
  • Call a neighbor to see if they have power.
  • Contact REMC at 317-736-6174.
  • Give name and phone number in case we have to call you back.
  • State the problem, such as no power, partial power, flickering lights, dimming lights, tree fell into line, etc.
